There is a new version of the Tinyhawk coming out, the Tinyhawk S a 2S version of the Tinyhawk.
It is already listed on bangood as pre-order for less than $100. It is expected to ship June 19th.
It looks very similar to its predecessor but the features speak for themselves: This version, apart from being able to run on 1S or 2S will also allows for the camera tilt to be adjusted. Further EMAX decreased the size of the motors, so the Tinyhawk S 2S will be rocking 0802 15500KV motors.

As you might know, most of the FrSky receivers and transmitters are available in two versions, they are sometimes referenced as EU or non EU or EU LBT and FCC.
FrSky themselves calls the EU version LBT and the non EU version FCC. When you download firmware files for flashing your receiver they will be named accordingly.

The Holybro Atlatl mini is a FPV video transmitter with MMCX antenna connector. The board measures in at just 19x16mm and 4.5mm thick - the thickest part is the MMCX connector. It weighs in at 1.6g without the antenna and 3.6g with the included linear antenna.
I picked mine up from Banggood for less than $20.
The PCB itself comes heat-shrinked and has silicone wires already attached. The wires are 10cm long and the pads are big enough to solder your own wires.

In the FPV hobby there are different styles of antenna connectors - let’s take a look at all of them, what their pros and cons are and in which situation you might prefer one over the other.
First let’s take a look at how to quantify an antenna connector - what makes an antenna connector a good antenna connector? The single most important thing with antenna connectors, basically with any connector is, that it has a reliable connection. But how do we define reliable? Reliability depends highly on context.

You got the tinyhawk RTF kit and are now wondering if you can use the radio with another quadcopter? The short answer is yes, and I will show you what you have to look for.
The transmitter for the TinyHawk uses the FrSky D8 protocol, this means you can use the controller with any D8 receiver. D8 is a protocol by FrSky and it is the predecessor to FrSky’s D16 protocol. A lot of bind and fly quadcopters that come with a FrSky receiver in fact do come with a D8 receiver. But those D8 receivers are also separately available for very little money.

How long can you let a fully charged LIPO battery sit around before it gets bad? Why does a LiPo battery get bad at all?
Most people in the RC hobby know that you should not let your LIPO batteries sit around fully charged. LIPO batteries are very sensitive, they don’t want to be over-discharged, charged or discharged too quickly, they don’t want to sit around either fully discharged nor fully charged.
In this article I want to have a look at why that is and look at different phenomena you might know from your LiPo batteries and why they happen.

Smart audio is one of the few Betaflight features that you can not set from the Betaflight configurator. You either set your video transmitter from the OSD or via command line interface - sometimes it might even be necessary to set your VTX via Betaflight CLI, for example when you switched your transmitter to a channel that your goggles are not capable of receive on, or your video transmitter is stuck on a channel that it itself does not support.
This is what happened to me once on my tinyhawk, I wanted to switch to E8, the frequency I am usually on, but did not check the manual and as it turns out this frequency is by default blocked on the tinyhawks video transmitter - you can set it to this frequency, but that is it - it will not transmit anything.

Shortly after GEPRC releasing their 12A, F4 all in one flight controller, BetaFPV is now releasing theirs.
The specifications seem to be pretty similar too: 2-4S, 12A, plugs for easy connections of the motors, through hole pads for the power connection. It only seems to have one UART broken out though, this could definitely be a deal-breaker for some people.
With a price of $39.99 it is slightly cheaper that its GEPRC competitor.
The board also comes with Betaflight OSD and LED out but you have to provide your own receiver. It also does not have pads for buzzers.
it weighs in at 5.6g. This could be the board all the Beta85x owners have been waiting for, that actually want to fly their model with 4S without burning out the ESC’s.
According to Beta FPV’s website, shipping starts immediately.

GEPRC just started pre-sale of their new fight controller. This could be the one a lot of us have been waiting for - it comes with 12A ESC’s, and is supposed to run 4S batteries. Pre-orders start now and will be shipped starting may the 7th.
With a price of $42.99 it is very similar priced as the Crazybee F4 Pro V2 board, but chances are that GEPRC got the BEC right (although it is only specced with 1A) and it will not blow as it is very common with the Crazybee boards.
The board also comes with a current sensor, LED out, buzzer pads and 2 UARTS broken out.

This release cycle took a bit longer than usual, but now it is here, the newest release of Betaflight - Betaflight 4.0. A lot of brushless whoops that came out in the past couple of months already come with Betaflight 4.0 flashed. But why did it take so long and what exactly did change?
