A lot of brushless whoops came out lately, but which one is the best? In my opinion there is no one single best brushless whoop - it depends on what you want to do, this is why I decided to go with different categories.
Are you just starting out, do you want to fly indoors or do you prefer to fly outdoors, do you want HD footage or is DVR enough for you?
In this article I want to talk a little bit about battery connectors. Battery connectors - you wonder? Yes! What might at first sound like a boring topic with not much to say, turns out to be a quite interesting one, especially when it comes to brushless whoops.
Every mechanical connection is a place where electrical energy can be “lost” - or to be physically correct - translated into heat. You want your plugs to be as lossless as possible, so that all the energy can reach the place where it should be used - mainly the motors.
The Alpha A65 is iFlights rendition of a 1S, 65mm whoop. I was very excited to see an iFlight whoop since I usually really enjoy their ready to fly products, like the Green Hornet Cinewhoop which I reviewed a couple of months ago.
Their products are usually very well thought out and super solid. Spoiler alert: The iFlight Alpha A65 is no different in that regard. But let’s see what exactly it brings to the table.
I was pretty excited when I saw that there are Xing motors in the whoop form factor. I really like the iFlight Xing motors and run them on my 5” rigs and my cinewhoop.
Not only do I like their nice and roundish design quite a lot, but they also prove to be very reliable and most importantly durable.
The Tinyhawk 2 Race is basically the outdoor version of the Tinyhawk 2. They share a fair amount of components. The Tinyhawk Race is a 2S, 2” toothpick style quadcopter which you should definitely fly outside.
You can also fly it on 1S, but honestly - once you tried the Race on 2S there is no going back.
I was (and still am) a big fan of the first Tinyhawk, especially the RTF kit with goggles and controller. This is how got my wife into flying quadcopters. Now there is a new, improved version available - the Tinyhawk 2.
In this article I am going to take a look at what sets it apart from its predecessor and give you a general overview of this quadcopter.
The BetaFPV 1S F4 V2.0 is an AIO flight-controller for all 1S aficionados. On paper it seems that I found my perfect flight controller for 1S builds: integrated RX, super light weight and comes with BT2.0 battery connector.
But does it live up to my expectations? Let’s find out!
There is a new version of the Tinyhawk coming out, the Tinyhawk S a 2S version of the Tinyhawk.
It is already listed on bangood as pre-order for less than $100. It is expected to ship June 19th.
It looks very similar to its predecessor but the features speak for themselves: This version, apart from being able to run on 1S or 2S will also allows for the camera tilt to be adjusted. Further EMAX decreased the size of the motors, so the Tinyhawk S 2S will be rocking 0802 15500KV motors.
The Trashcan has first of all an very interesting name - but luckily it performs better than the name suggests. This model is made by Eachine and was released in late 2018. The name was chosen by the community which explains why it is, what it is.
The Trashcan comes with two PH 2.0 connectors so you can continue to use your 1S LiPo’s that you might have for your brushed whoop. Similar to the Mobula7 you have the option to fly it with one or 2S. This makes it a perfect fit for flying in and outdoors.
The Tinyhawk is a very unique brushless whoop. First of all, the motors are facing the bottom and the props are thus pushing instead of pulling. This is a very unusual form factor of prop and for now you are stuck with the original Emax prop for this model - I am sure this will change in the future, so fans of this model will also get some different props to experiment with. Another thing to notice about the motors is, that they have bearings instead of bushings which is very rare in this form factor.
The Tinyhawk is 1S only with a PH 2.0 connector so you can continue to use your 1S LiPo’s that you might have for your brushed whoop. This makes it really great for indoors.
The cam is very well protected by the canopy, but unfortunately you can not adjust the tilt. The motors come with connectors so you can easily swap them, in case they break.
